What advice do you have for women who are interested in frame drumming?
That there’s nothing to be afraid of, except maybe finding yourself completely addicted to being in rhythm with a group of people! And there is a particularly powerful quality when women drum together. The voice of the drum is calling many people right now, particularly women, some of whom had always wanted to play but were never given the opportunity or permission. Many of my women students were told that the drums were for boys, and they should play the piano or sing instead. Or sometimes it happens almost by chance — someone ends up at a drum circle and without any prior interest is suddenly captivated by the drums.
Take it even further: what advice do you have for women who are “not sure” what their calling is? You began as an artist, and almost fell into frame drumming. What did you learn about yourself, both as a spiritual person and as a career woman/artist, in the process?
That essentially the time to pursue your dreams is right now. Don’t wait until you have more time, more money, less responsibilities, etc. One must start doing the things one dreams of in the present moment or they never become a reality.

So much information on frame drum, Layne Redmond and chanting was presented to us in just a month! I have to show gratitude to the wonderful, warm and welcoming people in our study group and the community I have been looking for, and we came together at the end of the course to share what we had learned and played and sang together. It was great to reunite with some faces I had met before in Marla Leigh’s Frame Drum Academy and new faces to get to know. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in chanting, drumming and kirtan, Looking forward to next month’s course!

Read MoreKadambari Maa is a gifted teacher. As a yoga teacher, I have taken her online yoga and chanting courses and had many mentoring sessions with her. I have learned so much. To be able to chant and drum has been a dream of mine! When I first heard that Kadambari Maa had created an online Sangha community, I jumped at the chance. I knew that it would be nurturing, interesting and a fun experience. I was right! It is truly amazing and in the past several months with this group, I have gained so much knowledge. This is an uplifting community with a wonderful group of women from all over the world. It is a place where everyone feels welcomed and celebrated. Together we express what’s in our hearts and minds. It is where I have discovered new ways of looking and thinking at life. It is where I have learned to let go of my thoughts through trancey frame drum rhythms and chants. We also meet to play frame drum and chant together each month. It is where I have felt heard and held. The atmosphere is playful, supportive and creative. The teachings are clear and inclusive with one-on-one instruction. I now have a lifetime of practice and study materials that I can bring to my own Kirtan community. I have been deeply impressed by Kadambari Maa’s online teachings and touched by the devotion she has for her students. I’m grateful to have found my spiritual home. I am so honored to be a part of her Sangha community. It has been enlightening and so much fun. I hope you will join us.

Since your kirtan celebrations, I have incorporated the gentle yoga flow shared with us, into my daily practice. I'm recovering from covid and this is helping so much to restore and ground me. Another gift following your celebration is that my harmonium is back in use! Thank you for your message and the replay and deep gratitude to all who made the celebration possible.”
“Kadambari Maa, you have been a true blessing in my life! A gifted teacher who has helped me connect and recognize the presence and love of the Divine Mother. Your devotion to music and yoga is felt through your teaching. Your songs will sing in my heart forever!”
“Thank you for sharing your gifts and light so generously with all of us. I would love to learn the chants with you and, following on from your celebration, went out and bought myself a frame drum with the intention of making music and bringing that Bhakti to my practice in that way. So I am now equipped with drum! I would like to join you with the teaching sessions for sure.”
